Welcome to Centre for Nuclear Energy Studies. We are located at the Basic
Studies Building, Abuja Park of the University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt.
The Centre is funded by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the
Nigeria Atomic Energy
Commission.

Our Vision
The Centre shall, through
teaching and research, become a leading nuclear technology centre of excellence
in the country and the world by attracting the best brains in both staff and
students, and providing practicable solutions to peaceful utilization of nuclear
energy locally and globally.
Our Mission Statement

The Centre
shall strive to attain uniqueness within the University setting by evolving
practical solutions to energy problems as they affect Nigeria and the world
at large;

The Centre
is committed to the provision of scientists and engineers who would be
engaged in applied research in new technology development in nuclear science
and engineering;

The Centre
is committed to harnessing all materials, human and physical resources at
its disposal in a most efficient manner towards the advancement of nuclear
technology for effective project planning and management, technical
coordination and sustainable implementation of the national nuclear power
programme;

The Centre
is poised to harmoniously collaborate with other Faculties of the
University, relevant Government agencies, industrial and commercial
organisations and the society at large for the purpose of uplifting the
University as well as influencing policies and direction of advancement in
Nuclear Engineering and Technology in the country;

The Centre
shall continually strive to respond to the national needs in producing
qualified human capital which is adequately equipped to optimally deploy
nuclear technology in power generation, radiation protection, food and
agriculture, human health, environmental management, industry and other
diversified applications for our national socioeconomic development; and

shall liaise and cooperate with international nuclear research organisations
for effective research and development of nuclear technology and
exploitation of nuclear energy.
